Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I find the latest Lifeguard Manual?
Click HERE to download the latest official American Red Cross Lifeguard Manual.
How long is the Lifeguard Training?
The full course includes both an online portion and an in-class portion. The online portion is completed prior to class and takes about 7 hours to complete. The in-class portion takes about 20 hours or 2 days to complete, depending on class size and student progress.
Are there weekday classes?
We only have weekday classes on school breaks and holidays, including Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break and Thanksgiving but it is based on enrollment and instructor availability.
Can I skip the CPR portion if i'm already CPR certified and is there a discount?
What does "Blended Learning" mean?
What if I can't pass the swim test on my first try?
How do I reschedule?
Can I come in on Saturday one weekend & Sunday on another?
How do I get a refund?
We allow a 50% refund on the cost of the class if a refund request is made at least 4 business days prior to the first day of the students's registered class. Most of our operations and scheduling depend on advance notice to the instructor, facility and Red Cross. However, students are always welcome to send an email request to join an upcoming training and all their information and payment will be rolled over. We will do our best to put them in the next class of their choosing. Any money not refunded can be used as a credit toward any future training through Watch The Pool and will never expire.
What if I can't pass the deep water skills?
If deep water is an issue, we can modify your training to earn the "Shallow Water" Lifeguard certification which allows you to be hired by most swim schools and other positions. If you would like to keep trying for the full Lifeguard certification, we can hold off on processing the Shallow Water certificate and you are then allowed back any future weekend to attempt the rest of the skills. **Please note that some of our facilities have entry fees that the student will incur if attending another date.
What if I can't pass any water skills?
If any of the water skills are an issue, we still recommend you stay in class to earn your Professional CPR/AED First Aid certification and watch the water skills to be better prepared next time you would like to try out for the Shallow Water or ful Lifeguard training. **Please note that some of our facilities have entry fees that the student will incur if attending another date.
