How long is the Lifeguard Training?

The full course includes both an online portion and an in-class portion. The online portion is completed prior to class and takes about 7 hours to complete. The in-class portion takes about 19 hours or 2 days to complete, depending on class size and student progress.

Are there weekday classes?

We only have weekday classes on school breaks and holidays, including Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Break and Thanksgiving but it is based on enrollment and instructor availability.

Does the Lifeguard certification include CPR?

Yes! In fact, professional CPR/AED and First Aid are all included in our Lifeguard certification.

Can I skip the CPR portion if i'm already CPR certified and is there a discount?

Students may not skip the CPR portion in a Lifeguard class even if already CPR certified. Due to a large part of the Lifeguard course held in the water, there are additional skills that are more in-depth and slightly vary. For this reason, there is no discount.

How long is the Lifeguard certification valid for?

Our Lifeguard certification is valid for two years. Contact us before it expires and we can refresh your certification for another two years for a discount!

When can I expect to receive my Lifeguard certificate after class?

You will receive your Lifeguard certificate the morning following the last day of class. For example, students ending class on Sunday will receive certifications Monday morning in there email from the Red Cross.

What does "Blended Learning" mean?

"Blended Learning" means the course is completed partially online before coming in person to complete the hands-on training. Students receive interactive videos that need to be completed prior to coming into class.

What if I can't pass the swim test on my first try?

No worries! Watch The Pool gives unlimited tries on any and every skill. As long as you keep trying, we'll keep teaching. If redoing skills is taking up too much class time, your instructor may have you try the next day or even another weekend. **Please note that some of our facilities have entry fees that the student will incur if attending another date.

How do I reschedule?

The quickest and most effective way to reschedule your training to another date is by sending us an email to info@watchthepool.com or sending us a contact form at the bottom of the screen. We will respond to let you know when you are on the new roster.

Can I come in on Saturday one weekend & Sunday on another?

We strongly advise against this as in most cases, every class is taught differently due to facility use and weather. If you have no other option, please send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate. **Please note that some of our facilities have entry fees that the student will incur if attending an additional date.

How do I get a refund?

We allow a 50% refund on the cost of the class if a refund request is made at least 4 business days prior to the first day of the students's registered class. Most of our operations and scheduling depend on advance notice to the instructor, facility and Red Cross. However, students are always welcome to send an email request to join an upcoming training and all their information and payment will be rolled over. We will do our best to put them in the next class of their choosing. Any money not refunded can be used as a credit toward any future training through Watch The Pool and will never expire. **COVID-19 Policy** Lifeguard classes cancelled with advanced notice or classes cancelled by Watch The Pool due to new regulation, low enrollment, chemical issues or weather, can receive a majority refund less $50. This $50 can be used as a credit toward any future training through Watch The Pool and will never expire. Thank you for your understanding and patience through these difficult times.

What if I can't pass the deep water skills?

If deep water is an issue, we can modify your training to earn the "Shallow Water" Lifeguard certification which allows you to be hired by most swim schools and other positions. If you would like to keep trying for the full Lifeguard certification, we can hold off on processing the Shallow Water certificate and you are then allowed back any future weekend to attempt the rest of the skills. **Please note that some of our facilities have entry fees that the student will incur if attending another date.

What if I can't pass any water skills?

If any of the water skills are an issue, we still recommend you stay in class to earn your Professional CPR/AED First Aid certification and watch the water skills to be better prepared next time you would like to try out for the Shallow Water or ful Lifeguard training. **Please note that some of our facilities have entry fees that the student will incur if attending another date.
